LOL - is there much difference between s sideways baseball cap and a back-2-front baseball cap.
It's the latest fashion craze for the little poppets, they all try to be different and all end up looking pretty much the same.
I think "clowns" is a bit harsh, but it sure doesn't show much flair for individuality.

Maybe not clowns, but it's definitely a sloppy look. This look has been in since the late 80's, and I've never liked it. I think it's time it went out of style.

To be honest: i think that every person's fashion tells alot about their interset in music, life, entertainment, and culture.
for your question, I think it is because of an influence on Hip-Hop, street, gangster rather than saying that that is what teens wear. Anybody can wear it. In my case, I am a pro-musician and Sound Tech. I wear faded ripped jeans, tight shirts, well kept hair and I also dress according to my sound tech. category: slacks, polos, ties, coats, sweaters, glasses(all the time), and well kept hair(always). It just depends on the kind of character that you are. It also depends on the kind of image that you want to show in public.
Oversized clothes are way out of style, definately CLOWNISH!

Every generation will appear foolish to the previous one! It's just a fact that each generation will have it's quirks.... Hell, I grew up during the 80's and 90's and I can think of a bunch of crap that I did that probably appear foolish to my elders.
Ummm.... Tightrolled pants? Yeaaaaaahhhhhhh......
