If by countries you mean nations (some nations are tribe based not land based. e.g. Celts. They may live in a particular area, but the kinship is with the tribe not the land, therefore they do not die out when the land they are on is usurped.
To answer, it was the land of the Choctow, Chickasaw, Natchez nations), Spain claimed it but this was refuted by France and ceeded to the UK at the Treaty of Paris.
