...place bumber stickers - or metal signs - on them? Don't you think this makes the vehicle look junky?

Personal preference. They buy what they want, and then have the right to do whatever they want with it, as long as it is legal!

Your preference is not to put stickers and signs on a car. The other people want to put them on, and like the way they look. I actually tend to agree with you that it is not something i would do, but I support their right to do what they want with their own property.

When you pay their bills, you can control their actions. Until then you have to live with people not agreeing with you!!

They figure that bumper stickers don't take anything away from the price sticker of the car.

yes!
i hate bumper stickers and i would never put them on my car. i was upset when i had to put a parking sticker on my back window!!!

however, they do add a bit of character to an old beater....

cause some people arent the brightest bulb in the box they dont know what kind of damage it could do yor your paint especialy if you dont know waht your doing. \
the best place if your going to put them on there is the glass

Yes it does. In fact, it is more of a personalization, which makes people happy. It also makes me smile when I looked at it, and it makes my day even happier.
