I'm 29, and I watch it so I'd have to agree that it's geared towards all ages. My (now 8 year old) niece got me hooked on it a couple of years ago. A lot of the jokes and sight gags are indeed geared toward a more mature audience, but are definitely subtle enough so young children won't clue in. The show also pays homage to the style of animation used in "The Ren & Stimpy Show" where you'd see various painted still-shots of close-up objects (i.e. Patrick's bellybutton or Spongebob's bloodshot eyes). Having watched Ren & Stimpy as a teenager, I enjoy seeing that style used for Spongebob. It's really no wonder this show has such a broad fanbase.

I love that show. It is okay to watch "SpongeBob SquarePants" for all ages. Every viewer who watch the show might have became a fan for this character. They like SpongeBob so much because he is irresistibly funny. Some of the things he said made us laugh anyway. Besides, he's just some kind of crazy person anyhow.

Spongebob has appeal to a variety of ages. Like the good Disney feature films, it has funny characters and action that kids like as well as the inside jokes and pop culture references that adults like. It doesn't use any bad language and the action usually isn't too scary, so I think anyone can watch it. If they use a double entendre, it tends to go over kids' heads. I watch it with my 4 and 2 year olds. My wife doesn't like it though.

I think Spongebob is okay for children of all ages, I started watching it when i was nine and know Ive been watching it for 7 years, my 7 year old sister watches it and its my 5 year old brothers faviorte show. i dont think Nickelodean(?) would air something only appropriate for a certin age group of children.

its for all ages. my son loved that show.
these are your children, u choose whats appropriate for them to watch. just because a show is rated E for everyone, u r still the parent so its ur call. some people think its inappropriate for any baby to watch tv.

It's more mature than...say, Winne the Pooh or something along those lines. I'd say ages 8 and up....
