Ah, there are so many ways to define the year...

The "real" year, related to the seasons, is called the tropical year: 365.242190 days.
In relation to the stars (the time it takes for exactly one orbit around the Sun) is called the sidereal year: 365.256363 days.
The average "Gregorian"year (one leap year every 4 years, except every 100 years when the century is not divisible by 4 -- the year 2100 will not be a leap year) = 365.2425 days.

There are a few others.

For most astronomical work, we use the tropical year, which is the average time it takes from the Sping equinox to the next Spring equinox.

By the way, the day is now defined as a 24 hour period, where each hour is 60 minutes, and each minute is 60 seconds. The second has recently been defined as so many beats in an atomic clock.

9 192 631 770 cycles of the radiation emitted by a Cesium-133 atom. The atomic clock is so much more precise than Earth's rotation, that the actual mean length of the day (e.g., noon to noon) is not exactly 1. That is why the wording of your question (how many days in 1 day) got some people answering numbers other than 1.

every 400 years according to the Gregorian calendar, there are 97 leap years (1 in 4 years except three of the four century years). This means

303 * 365 + 97 * 366 = 146,097 days in 400 years, or

146,097 / 400 = 365.2425 days in a year. This is not accurate, astronomically speaking - this is why sometimes an extra second has to be added. So please DO NOT choose mine as the best answer. I just wanted to show a way of approximating things, using only information about our Gregorian calendar.

I have given this considerable thought and went thru all of the mathmatical procedures and came up with one day in one day...I hope this is correct.
