For the same reason that people prefer to take rather than give.
Also for the same reason that people now-a-days believe that matter is real and mind just imaginary.
For the same reason that human beings are no longer social animal .... they are becoming plain and straight animal.

Love is the first step to lust.
And lust make you fall in love.
Whatever comes first...the ending is the same.
Lust is physical and satisfying.
Love is relaxing and confortable...but you only really appreciate it after having your lust satisfy.
People who have a one night stand simply never learned to masturbate and are using someone body to release themselves. It is not lust. It is just a body function that they need to satisfy.

Lust is an often, an immediate, assailed sense, and chemical in strict definition.
Love too is a process, and can be a lifelong sense, though certainly lusting for a "Loved One" is a good thing.

I am not convinced that this is always the case.
A desire for sex is certainly more immediate and basic than a desire for love, because it is instinctive and not processed through the rational processes of the mind.
Look on lust as the hor d'oerve of love.

It's not that they prefer it over love. Lust is what got us here today - the primal urge to procreate. It's a strong force that enables our species to survive. Love comes around when we became/become civilized and have time to think about it.

because it's the easier way to act through your lust whereas love needs caring,devoting all your heart to someone.people just try to enjoy the day without bothering what can be made in the name of love.
