who cares what the all favourite songs in the UK are.... what matters surely is what are YOUR favourite songs.
bearing in mind that the likes of sugar babes, bananarama, take that, blue or whoever have all had multiple hits it indicates that there are a ot of popel out there buying stuiff, that personaly Id rate as little more than dross.
The danger of a UK wide favourite song is that as the TV clip programmes show peoples perceptions are very odd. they favour recent choices against old time classics (no harm in that there was soem real crud out there years ago). They favour one that they think others may like or know, or they pick one or two off the provided lists.
For the record some of these are my favourites....
Jennifer, Sweet Dreams, there must be a angel by Eurythmics
Angells, Let me entertain you by Robbie Williams
The only way is up - Yazoo
Pick up the pieces/ cut the cake - AWB
Rudi can fail, Revolution Rock... infact just about anything from Clash's London Calling
Dont fear the reaper Blue Oyster Cult
Texas, Sailing Away, Deep Water, Midnight Blue - Chris Rea
Tunthumping - Chumbawumber
Geno, C'mon Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners
other stuff from Foreigner, Bad Company, Riolling Stones, Fleetood Mac, Grahma Parker & The ROumour, JJ Cale, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, Nick Lowe, Rockpile.........
....heck Ive even got some Gary Glitter stuff on my MP3 player

per a friend of mine, one of the biggest bands in the UK are The Electric Six (they do that song "Gay Bar"). My friend tells me they are HUGE. Also, another HUGE band in the UK are Alabama 3 (known as A3 in the USA - they do the theme for the Sopranos, but have so much more great music and about 6 albums under their belt)
