tupelo mississippi baby.
no, his best music was the sun records years in memphis. his hollywood movie soundtracks were a bit campy. the vegas years were cool, because that's when he became the king. but you can't beat those sun records. him, johnny, jerry lee and carl perkins. come one guys. that is the 2nd most innovative and important record label next to motown.

When I think of Elvis, I always thought about Memphis because Memphis is the place where Elvis Presley was born. He used to live in a town called Graceland. Everyone knows he was born there. If I thought Las Vegas, then, that is where all the impersonaters who tried to be like him. Hollywood is where all the celebrities lived in. I know that Elvis made some good movies here but I really do belive that Memphis is the perfect one.

Well, the only Elvis song I like is the "Viva Las Vegas" cover by ZZ Topp, so I always think of Las Vegas. I Played that song a lot on the way to Las Vegas from Oxfordshire, UK. that song reminds me of the place everytime I hear it!

Not a fan of Elvis though...

His Memphis phase was when he was smokin'
His Hollywood phase was the start of umpteen poor movies and bad songs
His Vegas phase when he became good again but then got incredibly fat and died next to the pot

Well I try not to think of Elvis.
But when someone reminds me, I generally think of Paul Simon's song 'Graceland'......
'the Mississippi delta was shining like a National guitar'

So indirectly that's Memphis (ie. "Graceland"), but really it would the image of the Mississippi river from above reflecting the sun.
