Despite astonishing advances that make the world "feel" flat in some senses, the vast majority of companies approaching new overseas markets still can't see over the horizon past the bulge of the earth. Crusoe here refers to Robinson Crusoe who is ship-wrecked in an island and finally overcomes many hardships to get back to his native place ( England) after 28 years.
