17inch tyre will be hard to turn than the smaller one

bigger = slower acceleration but higher top speed & lesser handling
smaller = quicker acceleration but less top speed & better handling

as I understand it.

Looking at the other end if you have ever driven a mini with 10inch tyres you will know that a smaller tyre puts less rubber on the road and whoops!!!
The bigger tyre has advantages in that it needs to distort less for the same patch area to be in contact with the road.
Also with bigger tyres they do not fall into holes in our ill maintained roads so badly and give a better ride.
BUT a small car with massive tyres would look ungainly. A big one with little tyres would look silly. So there is a cosmetic price to pay as well.

critical thing here is the outside rolling size of the tyre.

You say 16 and 17 inch, they are rim sizes not tyre sizes.

If you increase rim size from 16 to 17 inches, you need to buy tyres with a lower sidewall profile.

For example, if your 16 inch tyres are 205/55 R16 then you need 205/45 R17. If you do that there won't be any effect on the speedo.

As far as speedo calibration, the outside diameter of the tire is the important measurement. As far as 16 vs 17 inch tires, obviously the 16" fits on a 16" rim, etc.

Now, what is the difference between 16" and 17" rims? Style, looks, etc. Given similar materials, the 17" rim will weigh more (increasing unsprung weight and rotational interia). Replacement tends to be a bit more expensive, and tires tend to be a bit more expensive as well. And obviously, the 17" will fit over bigger brakes.

Will you be able to feel a 1" increase in rim size? Probably not. I notice I can see the difference, but I tend to like the big wheel look.

Did I answer your question? there wasn't much to go on...

the bigger the tyre/wheel is , the slower your speedo will show you are going.eg:- you could be doing 30mph and your speedo will only show 25mph this is why when you put low profile tyres on to a car ,you need to put on bigger wheels so the actual circumference is the same as the wheels you took off.

do not use something a lot less or more effective than 265. Your SUV contain the tire length and also you need to adhere what the producer's advice for tire length on your own protection if no longer on your persons and kinfolk. 10 cm is plenty distinction. you are able to decision the 2d decision yet do not play round with first decision.

the 17 inch wheel will have more positive steering response because there is more solid metal turning rather than soft rubber tires which flex and make it feel sloppier
