I'm the same as Linda B. I'm on Thyroxine for life after having radioactive iodine treatment not everyone has to have this treatment wait for your blood test results .Some overactive thyroid problems can be treated with carbimazole which I was on at first then thyroxine. It didn't work for me but everyone is different.

you have an overactive Thyroid, when i had mine i was referred to the hospital for treatment, first of it was medication, then as that didn't work i had to have it blasted with Iodine treatment. that made it go underactive for which i'm now on Thyroxine for life, i would rather it be this way than overactive

If the thyroid is working overtime you could see weight loss, feel irritable all the time, and see weakness in your muscles.
TSH, or thyroid stimulating hormone, drives the thyroid gland to produce more T4 and T3. When it’s high, it’s working overtime to stimulate the thyroid, which indicates hypothyroidism.

They will want a blood test. That will tell them everything. It will mean everything to you in the long run. It will only mean that you may have to take Synthroid for the rest of your life. Not a big thing. But if you don't take care of it now it will result to a life threatening situation. The best endocrinologist/endosurgeon is Dr. Edwin Kaplan at the University of Chicago. You don't necessarily have to travel to see him. I am sure he would refer you to an expert in the field where you live. Kaplan is the best. I worked for him for 17 years and my Mom before me. Good Luck to you!
