Yes as it says in the highway code you should drive in the lefthand lane except when overtaking. It is not a cruising lane.

What about car drivers who drive slowly in the left hand lane, thereby pushing lorries into the middle lane, which in turn, forces more cars into the right hand lane. No driver should stick to one lane regardless, that is self righteous and ignorant. Equally, what about the self righteous types who drive at 70mph in the right lane, and refuse to budge. The highways division should employ a large vehicle, called, "The Enforcer". Which, after one warning, wrecks the offending vehicle, and then sends the owner a bill for the costs incurred. I am referring to British motorways, whereas some of your respondents are clearly talking about the US.

No, but the morons who drive in the left passing lane and go slower than everyone else should be pulled off the road and beaten senseless. Flashing high beams, honking, tailgating, hand gestures, and what not does not seem to get the point across to these morons until they are pulled over by a highway patrol cop. If someone wants to drive slower than everyone else, move over to the right lane, not the left. This isn't England and the slower traffic should stay to the right, not the left.

Most definitely because they are hogging the middle lane... they cause people to get stressed and make dangerous moves to overtake them which can result in accidents...in the long run it would save the tax payers money. If they want to drive at one speed then the police should confiscate their vehicles and fit them with a max speed device of 30mph...keep them in the slow lane for a year.....

They could be said to be driving without due care and attention, they could also be said to be obstructing the highway. Either way it is an offence to occupy the outer lanes unless you are overtaking or have been instructed to via signage or the police.

These drivers are a constant menace and are the cause of many accidents and the majority of tail backs.

Depends, what is the speed limit, and are they doing the speed limit. If so, slow down you are driving to fast. In every state that I have been in there have been people doing the speed limit getting cursed by people that want to break the law. I just don't get it I guess. In answer to your question, no they should not be prosecuted for doing the right thing.

No, it's the idiots who drive in the overtaking lane that should be prosecuted. This morning on my way to work, I was all on my own in the left hand lane and there were 7 cars in the overtaking lane, all going slower than me! Why? Are they all lemmings?

No - they are perfectly within their rights. Its tw*ts who drive along the inner lane (the OVERTAKING lane NOT the FAST lane) who should be prosecuted.

If we all just slowed down a bit and took things easier, we'd all get where we wanted QUICKER!!!

Perhaps if they drive at less than 55 when the road ahead is clear.
