In the not so distant past I ran into an educated woman who believed that decisions should be made on the individual basis with reguard to public opinion. While I respected her words I have questions and reservations about the overall concept.

You should be yourself and not let other think for you; your decision must be personal and to the point.
You must see both sides and then judge base on your experiences or your feelings.

You might call it mob rule, but in recent times we are all under the influence of an advertising mafia who have studied psychology so well they no what color to put on the box you buy. These people have as their goal to make everyone feel inadequate so that they will buy more to feel whole. We have media control by a few powerful corporations that give us only the information they want us to have, slanting everything towards their goals. So, it is difficult to call our opinions either democracy or mob rule, for our opinions are given to us by a very powerful elite to move us this way or that depending on their plans for the moment. Immigration is a perfect example, as we have all been seduced by concerns over illegal aliens, interesting choice of words is it not, while our Administration is busy signing deals to open our borders with Canada and Mexico. Our government has been actively interfering in the politics and lives of people all over the Middle East to the point that most of them are very angry with us, and yet we are given the idea that anyone who disagrees with out agenda in the region is a terrorist. It is important for all of us to become more informed that ever before, difficult as that may be, and make decisions for ourselves based on the best information. The stakes couldn't be higher, for the future of mankind hangs in the balance.

No. I feel most Americans aren't informed on the issues and public opinion also changes directions like the wind. I feel it would be mob rule.

In theory that sounds fine if everyone were as educated and intelligent as she is.
BUT - a lot of people are not that smart and do not have all the facts. That is when MOB RULE takes over
