Here are the most common variants of the name along with their rank of overall female names out of 1000 used in the US in 2005:

Madeline 69
Madelyn 106
Madalyn 356
Madilyn 495
Madelynn 546
Madalynn 819

A little over 10,000 girls were name Madelyn or one of these variants last year alone. It is a cute name but if you want uncommon, look somewhere else. Marilyn is similar. It ranked 566 and only 498 girls were named that last year. There probably wouldn't be two in the same class or even the same school.

I love Madelyn. That is a name that is on our list of choices for our baby girl due in March. Good Choice. Madelyn Renee sounds good together too. I like Madelyn Rose, Madelyn Brooke, or Madelyn Elizabeth also.

About the spelling,be careful that it won't be very difficult for the child and for other people even when she grows up.Madelyn is a very beautiful name, but why do you add Renee?Madelyn alone is very nice.Another spelling could be Madeline or Madelynn.

I think you should spell it Madeline, so she can enjoy the madeline books and movies! It's not that common of a name, so you can stick with the usual spelling (that will save a lot of frustration for her when she's in school) Renee is beautiful! Congratulations and good luck!! =)

Madelyn is pretty, though I'd spell it Madalyn. I'm not a big fan of Renee...how about Madalyn Alice or Madalyn Louise??? My baby girl is due in Feb.....very excited!!! Very pretty combination of names though, congrats and good luck!!

I wouldn't change the spelling of Madelyn. Of course it depends on how you want it to be pronounced. Madelyn to me is mad-a-lynn. Others are giving differnet spellings but then it changes the pronounciation. Madeline to me is mad-a-line. You don't want something that she will have to spell for everyone her entire life. And for Renne, that's the only way I've known to spell it.

What a pretty name for your little girl! I like it. Madeline, Madelaine, Rene are the only other spellings I can think of.
