u are not born gay.....society makes u gay....like no1 is born heterosexual they are brought up in the spirit of heterosexuality, later on you decide for urself if u like guys or girls >>>>U ARE NOT BORN GAY/STR8 WILL YOU PEOPLE STOP SAYING THAT!!! ........i liked girls before i decided i like guys better so its all about the environment and the experiences u have in life, U PICK YOUR OWN DESTINY, your own sexual orientation :)
God doesnt 'create' u gay or str8, it creates U, then u choose your path for different reasons

There are volumes of books written about "why".... and there are probably as many different explanations as there are people. What I would like to offer you is this.
Now depending on wheather or not you were REALLY interested in obtaining some personal insight by way of an answer to your question, or if you just wanted to start something, you will really take this challenge....
Spend some real, authentic quality time contemplating this.... Imagine that in the blink of an eye the entire world did a "flip-flop" and being gay was considered the norm, and heterosexuality was what the world considered "a sin"... really spend some time getting a feel for what this would be like.
Now imagine someone asks you "why are you straight... what caused you to be that way... and why can"t you change and be normal ( gay ).
Think about this for a while and you will see what it is like being on the other end of your question.
My answer to your question will not satisfy you... but the simple answer is "because I am".
Take care,
Chuck :- )

Its extremely unfortanate that you are so ignorant, first of all. Normal? Dont presume to think you know what normal is. God created all of us, normal was not a prerequisite.
As far as your idiocy of thinking that something must have made us gay that was out of the ordinary, no, that is not the reason. Look at all the straight people that are molested. Also all the hets that live alone and never find a partner to spend there lives with, do they all the sudden decide to be gay? NO, because they are straight. Same for gays, I would rather please myself the rest of my life than be with a man, because I am gay. So stop being a jackass and pull your head out of your butt.

As with many topics the nature/nurture debate will rage on. Whilst there is clear evidence for a biological basis of sexuality (which I won't go into at this moment) there is also strong evidence to suggest that sexual preference is affected by the environment - for e.g. it has been suggested that being brought up in a liberal hedonistic environment may influence sexuality.
You could say that by being in a particular environment you are more likely to be gay and engage in certain activities. On the other hand, you could say that such an environment would simply allow nature to take its course.
I believe that a biological basis is the strongest factor in determining sexuality, but that nature and nurture interact to a certain extent.

Its more of a feeling that cannot be explained. I grew up believing that I prefer girls, but eventually, got confused when I felt some attraction for the same sex. It's very abstract and complicated. Even gays wouldn't be able to fully explain what caused their 'gayness.' (hence the term 'identity confusion')
Origins of being gay has always been a controversy between NATURE (genetics) and NURTURE (child rearing and environmental factors). Proponents of the NATURE side says that genes predispose someone to be gay. My professor said that usually, a child would have greater chances of being gay if there is someone gay from relatives of his/her mom. Meanwhile, proponents of the NURTURE side says that it's more of environmental factors, e.g. a boy molested by another male, a boy who did not have a strong father figure in his childhood, and the likes). Psychologists agree that origins of gayness is oftentimes a combination of nature and nurture.
I hope this helped.

First of all, not all gay or lesbian people are transgender. You're damn right I was created a man, and I still identify as a man. I'm just a man that likes other men. And, more importantly, what's the point of you asking if you've already decided what you're going to believe about the answer?

Growing up, I always felt somehow different from the other boys, and when I reached puberty at 13, I realized I was gay. I was raised in a loving, two parent household, with a father who worked and a mother who stayed home. I was never molested, and I'm not aware of ever having been around any homosexuals while growing up. None of the quack psychology reasons for homosexuality that conservative Christianists cling to were ever a part of my life.
But, I was none too thrilled to realize I was gay, and I ultimately got married, thinking it would make me straight. Trust me, it didn't.

No Breeze....
What made me a gay simply because I was born naturally as a gay man.
I didn't ask to be a gay or straight at all from God or my parents. I was born gay naturally....since I was 4 yo I was already attracted with my own uncle....
So, I never asked to be a gay... being a gay or straight is not an option for you Breeze. So when you are a lesbian, it's just simply your fate to become a lesbian....
Most people do think it's your choice to become gay or straight. In reality it is not a choice at all. You are born whether as gay or straight, period.
And for those who said that being gay or straight is a choice simply because they cannot deal and accept their own sexuality.... due to the environments around them or some reasons that are not allowing them to be like they naturally should be..... They just simply cannot accept imperfection at all within our society.
;)

I'm not gay but I'd like to put my two cents in: Being gay or lesbian isn't something turned on like a switch because of some incident or acquired by being in certain surroundings. It's hardwired into your brain. I don't understand why so many straight kids cannot get this through their heads. It's a ridiculous prejudice that must be stopped.

Heterosexualtiy is not more or less "normal" than being gay or lesbian. And yes, gays and lesbians ARE born like this - it is not a matter of choice or childhood experiences.
