I think both are but Bollywood is really superficial. At least Hollywood makes a few decent films and the actors and actresses are not covered in cement. Look a lot like barbie and ken dolls. Why do alot of Bollywood copy Hollywood movies? Esp the Gangster ones, its laughable.

hey sarkie devil, i thinks bollywoods way faker too. plus, most of them movies don't have much of a script.
there's always got to be some comedy, romanace, dance songs lipped synced to perfection, heart break, n showdowns in every bollywood movie.

Dude, its impossible to expect that every movie must be a hit. U win some, u lose some. Even good ole Hollywood has had its share of "promising" flops like MI 3, Basic Instinct 2, Superman Returns, Snakes on a Plane, etc. The problem wid Indian cinema is that we have loadsa ppl like Mahesh Bhatt, who at a budget of not more than 3 cr a film, makes 6 -7 movies a yr, all influenced from the wonderful collection of DVD's he has at home. What the viewer can do is "JUST NOT WATCH" such crappy movies and just buy audio CD's if the songs are cool. This yr has been average compared to last yr but then too thr have been hits like Namaste London, Honeymoon Travels, Guru, Metro, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Cheeni K-u-m among others. You cant have every other movie like these wer. Not every movie is an Iqbal or a RDB. We need to understand and wait for greener pastures. There are very good movies lined up to hit multiplexes in the later part of this yr. And if u think we dont have a way out, we do. Look at JBJ. Next time round YRF shall surely think twice before serving cr-ap to the viewers. So, just be patient. There's a long way to go for the yr to end. And btw Kenneth, even the "kisses" and "p*ssies" are not able to stop ur movies from bombin at the box office, smarty.

I haven't seen what comes out of Bollywood lately, but years ago I was crossing the Sahara desert and I was stuck for two days in Tamanreset, Algeria . It was movie festival time for the whole town so we watched 12 solid hours of Indian movies, and I swear it was all the same movie. Boy meets girl, girl loves boy. Boy loves girl. Boy is poor, girl is rich (or vice versa). Family disapproves, couple meets anyway. Families threaten to disown one or both. They fight about money and inheritance. Love is too strong. They run off together anyways. ------And then the films always ended with the couple driving off into the sunset in Kashmir.
I must admit I liked them.

Both are equally artificial, but I haven't seen enough Bollywood films to make an adequate judgment

Well, Bollywood is living up to their name. That is why they got llywood attached to the name -- copying hollywood.

Bollywood, who ever thought of that?? It is obvious that they wanted it to be known like Hollywood but it sounds stupid. They should have completely chose a different name.
