Well the problem with any crime is that unless you know who's doing it it's difficult to arrest them. Most people think detective work is all about putting together clues that lead to an irrefutable conclusion (thank you Miss Marple, Inspector Wexford and Sherlock b****y Holmes) but as anybody who's done any sort of investigation work (criminal or otherwise) will tell you it's about hard slog, asking questions and a large dose of sheer luck. When it could be one of a million people and you've got very slim leads, where do you start? Pick a beginning and follow it on, if you're lucky you'll have picked the right spot first time, if not start again.
The best help you can have is the mark one human eyeball and plenty of them. Yes, you could do a psychological profile but again it isn't like it is on the telly. A man murdering prostitutes may be a religious fundamentalist, or he may be a gynaphobe, or he may simply be a pervert who did the first on impulse and then found out he liked it.
DNA is a handy tool but it's no good if the DNA found at the crime scene doesn't match any on the databases. Tony Blair wants a national DNA database, ok but what if it's a foreigner doing it? Please, let's not even go down the psychic route.
What you have to remember is that there aren't enough beat police and what there are are in cars not keeping their ear close enough to the ground. If we had more policemen walking about we wouldn't have so many of these crimes and that's the best help of all. The Yorkshire Ripper was caught not by a manhunt, but by two coppers stopping him to check out his car.

If we had a national data base of DNA maybe some of these girls lives would have been saved, as it is the Politically Correct Human Rights Brigade don't want us to have real protection they would rather more young girls and boys are murdered to satisfy the whims of a few maniacs. I have nothing to hide so the authorities can have my DNA anytime and I bet 99% of the people in this country would also agree with this.
Until then lets hope the Police have more success than they did the the Ripper in 70/80s and not get into double figures.

It's mad, serial killers are scary. Everyone pictures Hannibal Lecter when they picture a serial killer, but the reality is that he's probably some sad, lonely, pathetic loser who cries when he masturbates over pictures of his mum, or some f*cked up sh*t like that. What I'm saying is he's a loser boy, and this is the only way he can feel powerful.
Anyway I hope they catch the bass and hang him upside down with a pitch fork up his a*s.

Not yet: its too early to call for the cavalry, otherwise you just have a lot of people standing around. Hopefully it should not be the same mess as the Yorkshire Ripper enquiry years ago, because of computers & CCTV.

All i can say is we need for now to put our faith in the police and hope that this insanity is nearing it's end.
I think the majority of us will consider ourselves lucky that our loved ones will be home this christmas.

serial killers are scary mannn! the worrying thing is though that for a lot of them this kind of publicity is encouragement! i think he/she enjoys the fame, maybe it shouldnt be broadcast, but then we still need to know whats happenning.
they seriously need to get serious about catching him/her!

We could volunteer for the manhunt and whilst we're out manhunting we could accidentally kill some chavs. I'll get my coat.
