are you apprehensive about this & what makes you apprehensive about this prospect ? do you think that "payback" is on the agenda in these countries because of past events such as the "Opium Wars, Communism in China " and "Foreign Rule in India" ? do you think that Chinese & Indian nationals, are potentially vindictive people, do you think that becoming "nuclear ready" has given these nations a new confidence on the world stage ? however do you think they could & will show the world the true beauty of their culture & their people despite their past.

Do you think that it is more likely that USA, European Union,Japan, China, India(Chindia), Brazil & Russia, some of the richer African Nations( Egypt,Ghana,Nigeria,South Africa, Tanzania), will play an increasingly "shared role" in shaping the world of the future beyond 2020 ?

Dear JD Guru, the question is an objective question based upon comments seen right here in answers. There is nothing"immature" in being objective! I know the past history of India and China , I also know a lot of Indian and Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese, Indonesian, people personally, and that is why I asked the question. See ?

Short answer, NO.

* Neither the Chinese nor the Indians are vindictive by nature (however the Russians are - note how they treat Georgia, Ukraine and the Baltics as if they are a possessive ex-boyfriend)

* The Chinese in the forty years have been in conflict with the Indians, the Vietnamese and the Russians, and they don't much like the Japanese or trust the Koreans. However they have not been in conflict with the West.

* The Indians in the last forty years have been in conflict with the Chinese and the Pakistanis. Again, no conflict with the West.

* Both countries see exporting as their way out of poverty and path to economic development. Therefore it is not in their interests to be in confict with the West, or even for the West to go into economic decline.

* Politicians might talk about their country on the ascendency, although if you read between the lines it is more to do with feeding their domestic constituencies.

I am an Indian and I think your question is both interesting and at the same time , carries some very immature content.
Yes, both India and China will dominate the economic scene very soon. I dont know why you think that the prime objective of these countries would be revenge or ' payback' as you put it? Why are you so scared? Is it because the British raped and plundered our country and set us back a couple of generations?
You know, our people are much more mature and intelligent to think of revenge. Both China and India boast of cultures and values for life that have been around when people in other countries were still practically cavemen.
I think we shall bring sanity and balance to the political and economic world. I would be specially happy that at last, we would have some say in the United Nations and would be given a fair hearing on the world forum.
Our 'past' as you put it , was smashed by 'developed' nations. I hope that teh western world will finally realise what we have known for generations - that humanity, family values and tolerance and love for nature and each other will be the guiding force behind the world's future.
Question to you guys is - will you join us or will you slide into oblivion?????
