Going to Johore Bahru (JB) via land from Singapore can be an unsettling experience. IIt can be a hot long walk across the crossway. The easier way is to go to Queens street and take the express bus which leave regularly. You'll have to leave the bus to clear immigration and board another bus. On the way back, it's reverse where you take bus 170 located between immigration and railway. A fun way is to check the train schedules and take the train, frequency is very much less however. It can be very crowded on weekends so weekdays is better. The city can be explored on foot. There are lots of cheap eats. Try the mutton soup if you are not a vegan. Coffee there is fragant so check out shophouses that has lots of people drinking coffee. Avoid any corners where you can be mugged which they do even in public. Crime is a huge concern among Malaysians due to many illegal overstayers. Forget about small hotels there as cockroaches run across your faces. You can de-stress yourself by patronizing saunas that offers complete package with food and drinks for M$200. Hop into any foot reflexology joint. They are half the price you pay in Singapore.

I remember the very first time I went to JB, my friends and I joined the local 1 day tour to eat durian as much as you can at a durian farm. Then the tour would take us to tour around the farmland & fish farm, and do some shopping. I enjoyed that exprience very much. :-)

Go to Woodlands and take the bus from there. You may opt to walk at the Causeway too.

Have fun!
