Get checked out for gluten allergey (celiac/sprue), systemic yeast syndrome, lactose intolerance and/or hyperinsulinemia. Any one or all together can work to put weight on, causing narrowing of the nasal passages.

There is some info on some of these at www.hufa.org. Check the symptoms link, especially if weight gain is a factor in your situation.

You may have sleep apnea. If you can't help from snoring by using the nose things (forget what they are called) then you may have to go thru the whole sleep study thing. If you have sleep apnea, which is very common in men, you might have to undergo rhinoplasty (nose job) and/or use a machine at night for breathing purposes. Good Luck to you.

Snorring usually occurs when the sinuses are blocked. There are medicated strips which you can apply directly to your nose to open it further and ease your breathing. Try sleeping on your side, with the under arm behind you and the top arm in front, so you tilt down onto the bed, and try not to sleep with your mouth wide open, close it slightly. There are surgery options for those who suffer sleep defeciencies as a result of snorring, and often your weight can play a part in it. Try the stuff you can buy to decrease your snorring, however if after 2 weeks you are still suffering, go see you doctor, they will be happy to help you.

My husband snores and the only thing that really helps is a few drops of OLBAS on his nightshirt. Olbas can be bought at any pharmacy or health food shop.
I did consider a pillow over his face with a lot of pressure on it!

Seriously? Lose weight, & sleep on your side instead of your back. Also, ask your Doctor about getting a CPAP machine.
