It's an intersting question as I'm in Shanghai right now and have witnessed a dozen robberies on the streets and subways. Almost everyone got caught, not by the police but by the person they were robbing which subsequently led to a public beating.

It depends on what scale does crime pay, you could say that the war in Iraq is a crime on humanity on behalf of the US, and I'm sure some oil company is reaping the profits of newly acquired Iraqi oil refineries. Terroism pays the families of suicide bombers, and the bombers are led to believe that they will have a ton of virgins on the other side of the coin. Not sure where you can sign up for that...but I don't advise it.

The application form is usually found when you are either down and out and have no other option, or you're doing okay and you are greedy for more (e.g. that guy who stole millions from Las Vegas Casinos and he was a programmer for the Nevada Games department!).

some ppl think it does and it might in the short run but one thing i have found is that it doesn't and ultimately the truth will come out about your misdeeds no matter how good you are or how long its been since committing and hiding the crime. why not just do the right thing honestly and you can live your life without having to look over your shoulder all the time. if you are still intent on a life of crime the only way to get the application form is to steal it but 'they' are hiring, the money's great but their health insurance sucks so consider all that before accepting a job.

Crime does pay in the short-run, getting easy money by pick-pocketing, but eventually you will get addicted to such a habit and think that life is easy.

One day, you will be caught in the act and sent to jail/caned/fined.

If you think free stay, food, scar on your butt is your defintion of "pay", then i am sorry for you.

Application forms can be found in all police stations, don't worry if you can't write cause the friendly policeman will be glad to help you.

if crime does pay, then you must take it as just a loan ,because one day you will be caught and pay it all back by losing your freedom.

Yes crime does pay but the retirement isn't that good.

It does when people are to damned lazy to serve on jury duty to put the jerk in jail or prison. It's the jury that declares that person guilty NOT the judge. But I guess it's too much of an inconvenience.
