First off no one ever really wins where war is concerned today.
Lebanon didn't really win because in reality the Lebanese government never entered into the conflict.
The Lebanese people definitly didn't win because they were the one who took the most damage.
Hezbollah didn't win because they almost never hit anything of consequence, caused little damage, and inflicted few casualties. They didn't stop the Israeli army from pretty much going where it pleased. Their loses were estimated at ten times what the Israelis were.
Israel didn't win because Hezbollah still lurks in many places and is just waiting to tweak Israel's nose by doing something else.
So there you have it. No one won. And the civilians on both sides lost. So why were they really fighting in the first place?

Israel foolishly pulled out of Lebanon on the assumption that the Hisb'Allah terrorists would not be permitted to re-arm and to return to their positions in southern Lebanon. Unfortunately, the United Nations once again double-crossed Israel and did not enforce UN Resolution 1701, which would have kept the terrorists where they were at the time of the cease fire.
Meanwhile, arms continue to flow from Iran via Syria to the Hisb'Allah, unchecked by the Lebanese army and by UNIFIL, in violation of the UN resolution.
Israel will have to fight another war there sometime soon to protect the civilians living in northern Israel.

No one won this battle. The cease fire ended it. The Israel's just needed a reason to attack Lebanon. I mean haven't you ever heard before that enemy countries do capture each other's soldiers if they were found on enemy territory. It's so common. Israel can do that, but if Lebanon does that, attack??!

Isreal has lost many soldiers and Lebanon has lost many civilians. Value of any breath is same.

Neither side won. But if Hizbollah brings down the Senora government, they will have a creditable claim that they beat Isreal and the US.
