what and to whom do you send them?

Yes, I have done it. Keep a note or card with the gift so you will remember who gave it to you, that way you are not as likely to get caught. I started doing it when I did not have the money to purchase a birthday gift. I think that it is okay to do so, as long as your intentions are good.

That's a tough one. Because we all know it's polite to say you like it, whatever 'it' is, and you'd be damned to hell if you tried to give it back! But gosh, can you really keep it??

I vetoed christmas presents some time ago. I always used to receive crap and then I'd either give it to charity or try and ebay it. I always felt like I was wasting someone elses money by doing this.
I do still give away the crap presents I get, I wouldn't call it 're-gifting' though. If I get something I think someone else may like/benefit from, I give it to them. I just don't do it as if I had bought it, and never for Christmas, Birthday etc. Never *as* a present. I just give it to them, because I want to give it to them.

A few years back I came up with $5 Christmas, and it's going well. People tend to get gourmet soap, exotic tea, new handkerchiefs or something nice and small and consumable. It's cheap and thoughtful, and no one feels too upset if you don't like it. And so far, no one hasn't liked what they got.
Soooo much better than a life-size nest of ceramic owl figurines.

I have before,yep...Oh theres nothing wrong with it in my opinion,If I can't use it then someone else can..Once due to a grudge I even gave it to the person who gave it to me originally..now that was a hoot!My relatives live in a different state than my ol mans so I can get away with it too.. =)
