Does anyone know any good short stories with only two characters in it?

Preferably one with a good plot/story line that can easily be adapted into something different.

there was a short story by guy de maupassant, called- i can't remember. something to do with perfidity though. it is about a woman that gets more pleasure from her horse than from him.
