If you have an Ipod or MP3 player. Check online for an "otterbox" for it. It came with a waterproof box for my Ipod, waterproof earbuds and a arm band. I run it down my back and put it in my suit. Taking music to the pool lets me swim a lot longer.

I love the showers too. LOL

Just keep swimming.

You are going to have to work on your other strokes to get a good workout. A good swim workout usually lasts around an hour, Half an hour is border line but it will help! See if you can join a masters class or get a swim partner, Either one will keep things going and you won't get as bored. I would suggest some swim workouts but you'll need to work your other strokes before you can effectively do the workouts.

Good luck and have fun, swimming is a great workout!

I would suggest finding a swimmer partner, joining the masters swim, or buying a swim workout book. I primarily use a swim book (Workouts in a binder, Gale Bernhardt ) and if you follow the workout plan, you tend to forget about time. If I swim without the book, I get bored easily like you stated. A minimum of 30 minutes 2-3 days a week would keep you fit.

I guess the minimum is 30 minutes a day. When I go swimming it is a family thing (my wife, my daughter and myself) so we tend to stay for a couple of hours.
If you are bored, maybe you can join a club and learn some new swimming strokes, also that way you will have some company while you swim which will make it more fun also.

a lot longer than ten minutes.......
try practicing every stroke so that you get as good as you are in the breaststroke
an hour or more in the pool will keep you fit, the more you swim the better for your heart and muscles

Probably about 30 - 60 minutes to stay fit. I am a competitive swimmer and I can spend anywhere from 1.5h - 4hrs in the pool a day. 30 - 60 should keep in pretty good shape though if you keep at it regularly.

for me, 45 minutes or an hour

if you just push yourself just a little bit, you can still have fun and keep in great shape
