I have joined on to 2 mystery shopping companies and no you can't really make a ton of money. It's more about the free stuff. One company does mainly fast food shops in my area and I have to order specific items and rate the time and appearance, taste of my food. I'm usually paid anywhere from $8 - $10 plus reimbursment for my order, I have done one retail shop at a child's clothing store as well and all that was for was $10 reimbusement for 1 clothing item. They do shops at pet shops and cell phone centers as well (i don't have a pet and already have service by the provider they are testing so those shops I can't do). The other shop I'm signed up for but live in such a rural area that there usually are no shops on the shop board in my area. It can be fun! and discounts and free stuff is fun but it's not something you will get rich off of. These are the 2 sites I belong to. If interested check them out.

Yes you can. However make sure you read the fine print when it comes to mystery shopping. For some companies you have to go at certain times of day and certains days of the week. These times could be when you are working at your "full-time" job. I currently work with a person that gets an email notification about a mystery shopper spot. He will accept that opportunity, request a vacation day from his full time job, and go do the mystery shopper thing. For him, I guess it pays off.

Last item...if they want you to pay first to become a mystery shopper....DON'T do it!!!

tried it. I joined many. one time I joined a list and spent money to join and found out that same list I could get for free. I joined aleast seventy or eighty on the list. one company called me and that had me go to Long Horn resturant and to pay for two people. fine. you look how clean the place is, the kitchen, bathrooms and long you wait for a table and if the people working there on friendly and how the food is. you take the 35 dollars from your pocket and pay for it. then you fill out a survey and wait six weeks to get your own money back. it was a waste. you pay out of your own pocket just to get the money back. I quit after that. then they put you on a list and you don't hear from them for months later. don't waste your time or money. heard others same the same things. also many times they want you to go into stores and lie about buying a ring or an two bedroom apartment and you fill out an application and you never take the place. I will not lie for anyone.

You have to apply to become a mystery shopper at the websites of these market research companies. They will then contact you if they have any assignment in your area. List of companies where you can apply free and links to relevant websites available at http://tinyurl.com/n474j

I used to mystery shop for a chain of pet stores and made a lot of money and had free lunches with the boss to discuss my findings, I also had to shop lift to see if the staff were attentive....I was good.
