I am a travel agent, and it's much easier than you've been led to believe in all these other answers. There is a shuttle bus between Heathrow and Gatwick which costs £18 and takes about 75 minutes. See www.londontoolkit.com for more details. No need to bother going into central london at all.

Hi>
As an option, there is a constant coach shuttle circling Heathrow & Gatwick, with baggage folks available. Another also covers London Luton & Stanstead.
THe coaches, last I used them, were operated by National, and most comfortable & convenient.
The service number was 747.
OK, not as quick as a car, but faster than using the tube & ordinary buses.
A good travel agent should be able to give more detail.
All the best.
Bob.

If you're driving it's easy, round the M25 then down the M23, a short run but possibly bad traffic. If you're not driving take the national express coach, it costs 20 or 30 quid but the tube is not worth the hassle, you spend about an hour on the picadilly line then up to 40 minutes on the train between victoria and gatwick, not nice at any time of day.

Yes, I agree... you need to take the Picadilly line (blue) from Heathrow to Victoria, and then take the Gatwick express from Victoria to Gatwick.
I would allow 1 hour to get from Heathrow to Victoria. The Gatwick express takes 30 minutes and they are about every 10 minutes.

I assume you are enquiring if the trains are running a normal service. The answer is yes - but check to make sure there are no engineering works on the line, since the post Christmas period is a popular time to do this.
Go to www.nationalrail.co.uk & TFL website if using the Underground.
I've just heard line through Gatwick is closed on 27th -AVOID!!!

depends how you are travelling and at what time of day. Walking would be tiresome, by rail its tube to victoria then on to gatwick, by car its M25, M23. bus is a waste of time.
