i'm very surprised. i'm asian myself and i've noticed that asians don't get hired very often, ESPECIALLY for a major film so i'm just wondering why. In the book, is the charactor an asian?

There are a few Asian characters in the books, and that transfered to the films as well. When I first read this question, I thought you were talking about Cho, Harry's crush. That role was highly anticipated, and thousands of girls auditioned for it. The Patil twins, I'm not so sure about. I would guess the girls who landed the roles were amongst the thousands who were trying for any role in the films. I thought the Patil twins were Arabic or Indian (from India, not Native American), not Asian. I could be wrong, though.

In the book, both of Patil twins are Asian. One of the Patil twins happens to be Harry's date to the Yule Ball. Hey, it doesn't matter. A few other people in the Harry Potter world are Asian, like Harry's true crush, Cho Chang.

In the Goblet of Fire book, the three schools represent three parts of the world: the British empire, France, and the former Soviet Union countries. So, since the British empire spanned Asia and India, you would expect kids from a variety of racial backgrounds.

We all are Humans first. If Harry Potter married a Black Muslim Tibetan Jew transexual, would it be any better.
