You can call it whatever you want really... However, it really depends on why your custom is to give gift on new years. If it is because you don't celebrate Christmas then you are really defeating the purpose of calling it Christmas shopping. If it is just a matter of convenience and you are still celebrating the spirit of Christmas then by all means call it Christmas shopping.

Yes. Actually, I'm having both families over on the weekend AFTER Christmas. I'll probably be doing most of my shopping AFTER Christmas when things are on sale. It'll just be me and my sweetie here on Christmas Day.
