If you use an ATM, you'll want a bank. Credit unions are small, but bank have hundreds or thousands of locations all over the country. Also, banks tend to have more products to offer, while the CU is limited in their programs.
That being said, the CU can have better deals on loans or interest rate (sometimes). Your money at a credit union might not be FDIC insured, but I'm not positive about that.
I use a bank and I can use one of a hundred ATM's in my area and I won't be charged a fee. You should check out the benefits of both.

Credit Unions usually have lower interest rates and are easier to work with than banks. Credit Unions are made up of members and the joint partnership gives the financial advantage to those members. By all means, check both for their terms and conditions for whatever loan or savings or investment plan you are considering.

I've dealt with both...
Bank is hard to get a loan from, but a credit union you can get one easily.
Bank wants you to mortgage your next of kin and future blood line, credit union you just need colateral, (house or real property).
Your "vested" in a credit union, by opening and account with them, but a bank could care less about you no matter what!!
I would never go to a bank, and after being with a credit union for over 25 years, I love 'em!
I wish you well..

Bank s are better than Credit Unions. After all, they are governed by RBI and any ups/down will be handled by them better than any other local unions. After all, Safety is important.

I believe with a Credit Union. You have a better chance at getting a smaller loan for less interest. Otherwise it depends if both have free checking and comparing other features and services like interest rates, amount on bounced checks, etc.
