i have hazel eyes and i want to start applyin brown eyeliner at work...but it looks too dark and my eyes give a very intimidating look. I've read that if we smudge the eyeliner...it can give a soft look...how can i smudge my brown pencil eyeliner after applying it to my bottom eye lashes?

Hi, the first step is to check and see if the eyeliner you are using is conducive to smudging...some brands are much better for smudging than others...I know that M.A.C.'s eyeliners are great for this....Step 2 is to buy a good eyeshadow brush with a small tip, or a specific eyeliner brush that has a slanted tip, and then simply brush at the line created by the eyeliner to create the effect you want. I think the problem you may be facing, however, is that eyeliner on the bottom lid/lashes is a very dramatic look in general, its very suitable for night-time wear, but for daytime you may just want to stick to lining your upper lids, you can always apply mascara to the bottom lashes if you want more drama. Another option may be to apply a thin layer of light eyeshadow on top of the eyeliner and then smudging the both together to create a more subtle effect. Or I find that after I shower with eyeliner on, it leaves a moderate amount of definition without looking at all obvious. Instead of continuing with makeup remover you could just wear it to work. :-) Hope this helps! Overall, I think that it is definitely worth it go to to a makeup counter at a department store and ask them about tricks and tips, many offer free makeovers with a purchase, and/or have many events throughout the year where one can try out the latest products, etc. Once you have your makeup applied professionally, you will learn so much and be able to always apply this knowledge yourself.

Using your finger from your free hand, gently pull your lid away from the eye. Then, using your brown pencil eyeliner with a tip that's not too sharp, apply a line to lower inner rims, from corner to corner. Next, with your fingertip, sponge-tip applicator or eyeshadow brush, smudge and blend to create a soften look.

try switching to a powder from a pencil. powders smudge much more easily. if you can't find a powder eyeliner, then just use your fave shade of eyeshadow! They make eyelining brushes that make applying a powdered liner so easy. then just use a slightly wider brush to go back over it and smudge! I have been doing it for about 2 years and I love it!

When you apply the eyeliner, smudge it right away with toilet paper. That's what I do everyday
