Metallic wrapping paper is awesome. Another neat idea is to wrap a gift in kraft paper and then glue or tape newspaper cut-out sayings onto the kraft paper. For this idea you can also print out sayings and pictures to glue to the paper. Hope this helps. Good luck and Happy Holidays!

I'd go for some dark blue or purple paper and stamp it with star stamps and glitter, then add some long strands of that fine tinsel in silver. Metallic tissue paper also looks a bit more "magical" than the usual xmas wrap.

If you want to make Christmas more magical, forget the fancy presents and wrapping. Go volunteer at a homeless shelter, be a secret Santa to a poor family, visit older folks at a nursing home, bring groceries to a shut-in. That is the magic of Christmas: Doing for others with no thought of reward, not pretty packages. Think about it...

Organza bags look cool. Also, I have seen in some journal presents packed in a black-white text newspapers paper with very elegant shine red ribbons. But be very careful with ribbon, it shouldn't look cheap. Very cool.
Merry Christmas

Metallic (Green, red or purple) or sparkly wrapping paper (Black, Silver or Gold) or maybe make your own (Draw funny cartoons of your friends on it etc) or use old magazines, newspapers to give it a different look!

I make my gifts personable. I buy baskets and fill them with personal pleasures, i.e., lotions, wine/beer, movie tickets, popcorn, Bottle of wine, crackers and cheese etc. Somewhere on the outside of the basket or tied in with the bow on a present I hang an ornament, usually something relating to their likes or hobbies i.e. sewing machine ornament, turtle ornament, etc. If I can I write a personal note, and always include my name & year.
