Well, first of all, this is a generalization. And, generalizations, generally are not acurate. Maybe your circle of friends have had this experience. However, I have not. It is pretty much the same for men and for women. When a spouse cheats, it goes to the deepest level and affects trust. It takes a while for trust to be rebuilt. Some people don't want to wait for that so they split. Some are willing to rebuild and they try that. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Some people pick a potentially cheating partner over and over again. They think it will be different this time, when it is themselves they need to change, instead of a partner.

I don't think it makes a difference whether you are male or female. I honestly feel it depends on the indivdual person. Yes it is true that perhaps it could be harder for a man to forgive because of the macho image of some and the pride factor but most women also have alot of pride. It is not fair to stereotype all men as being unforgiving. There are alot of women who would never forgive either. I forgave my husband and l would like to think had the shoe been on the other foot, he would have forgiven me, and l know it's not easy but l think he would have !! I hope this helped answer your question.

Women are very maternal and have a much softer side. Men tend to have more pride and bigger egos..that's not me putting men down, that's just how they are. Men also get a harder time from their friends, an example could be "man you're pussy whipped. If my woman did that to me, I would never take her back" Women seem more supportive and will usually stick by their friends decision. There are exceptions though. Some men have a feminine side and some women can be quite cold. It would really depend on the individual.

As generally speaking men are more insecure - although they will never admit it. So to be betrayed is more damaging to a mans confidence.
