if I get a compatible motherboard with 800 MHz FSB, which RAM should I get? 667 MHz, 800 Mhz, or 1066 HMz ? Is there any point getting RAM higher than 800 MHz ?

Well since the processor has a 1066Mhz FSB, you would of course need a motherboard that supports a 1066Mhz FSB. As for RAM, 533Mhz would actually be enough, that would be equal in speed to the 1066Mhz FSB, since the RAM is double pumped and the FSB is quad pumped (meaning both actually have a speed of 266Mhz.)

DDR 2 667 is recommended .... the bottle-neck these days is the speed of the hard-drive ... don't really matter how fast your FSB or Ram is ... the data can only write to the disk at a set rate

If motherboard BIOS is purely before intro of center 2 Duo in early 2006, it won't help/understand Core2 Duo. A BIOS replace ought to help. in the experience that your motherboard's chipset is Intel 915 sequence, it can't help Core2 Duo.
