It's in the Bronx and the Yankees play baseball there...no, wait a minute, that's the House that Ruth Built.

OK, it's in Washington...a big white building with a dome and it gives off more hot air than all the geothermal springs in Iceland and...ummm, that's the House that Newt Built.

I got it now...it's this huge mansion and grounds in Memphis with these wrought iron gates with guitars on them, and every day a lot of people...no, that's the House that Elvis Built (and by the way, despite what the tabloids report, Elvis really has left the building).

I guess it's pretty obvious by now that I Don't Know Jack---which sounds like a good name for a trivia game or something...what? It already has? Never mind.

The origins and history to the lyrics of this nursery rhyme do not relate to specific people or occasions but merely reflect the everyday characters and lifestyle which could have been found in rural England and date back to the 16th century. The phrase 'This is the house that Jack built!' is now commonly used as a derisory term in describing a poorly constructed residence!

The Jack that you are talking about, is Nicholson, who once tried to date the reclusive American writer and poet, Linda J Cirillo.

She turned him down.
