Harrods... IRA incentary bomb exploded killing two people

Yes Harrods is still standing but it was subject to a bomb attack where two people died.

I think that this questioner is referring to a fire on a department store in the Strand Belfast in the 1980's

Neither of the answers given so far are correct. Harrods is still standing in Knightsbridge, at least a mile away, and the Army and Navy Stores were/are in Victoria Street, again a mile or so away. The Strand was never in the main shopping area of London - it's more theatre land, and I don't recollect a department store existing there in my lifetime - I used to walk up and down The Strand in the 1960s and early 70s.

The Army and Navy Store

ADD: The Army and Navy WAS in the Strand - it occupied the whole block from Duncannon Street up towards the Aldwych, opposite Charing Cross station. It moved to Victoria Street after the fire.
Harrods doesn't come into the equation. It was never been in the Strand, and has always been in Knightsbridge.

It was the Civil Service Store. I had to rack my brain to remember, I worked just up the road!
