There are tons of them but Craigslist is simply HUGE.

Try Freecycle which also has regional boards. It is for people who want to give away their 'stuff' to someone who needs it right now rather than tossing it out or giving it to the thrift shop. My family have given away a bunch of things over the years and it has been great to connect with people who will put it to good use. We have also received some great things from like-new furniture to pets to surplus food. I've listed the link for Freecycle below.

Try a google search for other boards like Craigs. If you have a specific theme in mind, include that. There are a lot of regional or topical boards that focus on a limited scope like classifieds or hobbies.
