If people are never exposed to the "freedom of choice," it will be a difficult process for them to overcome the fear that is normally associated with change.
Having the ability to change, as the need arises, is fundamental for one to achieve success.
I feel the issues that are causing many conflicts in the world today, can ultimately be eliminated if we add new approaches to our methods of resolution.
What are your thoughts on the matter?

When I say..., this is what is meant:
"How can we inspire;" meaning, how can we assist, if we are asked to do so.
"a nation," meaning, not just the government in control, but all the people.
"want more for themselves," meaning, choice the path that is right FOR THEM.

I wonder if "wanting more for yourself " isn't a harmful goal, as opposed to making the best of what you have, which also would imply making what you have, work for you.
The King of Thailand is credited with this type of thinking, I believe. To make the most of the bit of land you have, to use the talents of a community to make goods that are unique to the area, and to appreciate the simple and happy things in life.
I'm not a scholar, but people seem happier in Thailand than most places I have been, and this thinking is quite firmly entrenched in the poorer areas here. Which, by the way, do not have a high crime rate, or filthy houses, or people not taking care of themselves and their families. ( that may be a generalization, but definitely a deserved one...I've been in many poor people homes in this country without notice I was coming, and without exception it was as clean and neat as those homes could possibly have been, even the dirt floors were swept clean, and the streets weren't littered.
People cleaned themselves well have the toilet, after working, and their clothes were presentable for work or eating a meal with family.
I think this notion of making the best of a situation has given the majority here a great deal of self respect with poor people lack in many part of the "more developed" world.

Yes, I agree with you if your methods of resolution also examine our: egos, narcissistic behavior, our lack of empathy and our biases. In your method of problem solving role-playing activities should also be implemented. I truly do agree with you that we need to implement a new form of conflict management but, as I was saying we must examine so much more. Yet, I don't feel that the issues that we are facing around the world can be remedied without RESPECT and less selfishness. We ALL have to learn how to RESPECT one another across: ethnic, sexual orientation and gender lines, that is our problem. NONE OF US HAS BEEN GIVEN THE RIGHT OR THE OBLIGATION TO JUDGE YET WE ARE SO QUICK TO DO SO.

Education. I don't mean the school education only. Intellectuality should be supported, there should be more libraries, more free courses about anything. Books should be sometimes free or very inexpensive. People should be encouraged to read more about themselves and the world around them. Internet should be used for this.

by promoting and encouraging individualistic achievements from a early age in people, and also learn to accept defeat and disappointment from time to time and the importance of employing the right attitude towards both these areas of life.
