Before you start the fake tanning application process, find a self tanning cream or mousse that works best for you - try it on a part of your body no one will see, so that you can see how the colour comes up. Once you have chosen one to use on your whole body, make sure you exfoliate before you begin, using a loofah or some kind of body scrub. This will make the colour go on much smoother and more naturally. Dry your skin thoroughly afterwards and decide where you are going to apply the tanner. You might want to apply some moisturiser to areas where the skin is a bit tougher than the rest of your body, like knees and elbows. This skin can look funny when tanning cream is applied so the moisturiser should give you a more even look.

Sometime it helps to start from your feet and work up, as this way you don't get lines and streaks on your upper body when you bend over. Apply the cream in even, circular motions. You could try wearing rubber gloves, this is supposed to make application smoother and also protects your hands from staining. Don't overdo it on areas like knees and elbows and when you apply it to your face, watch you don't overdo your neck in comparison. If you want cream applied to your back you will need assistance.

Once you have applied it you should wash your hands immediately to stop staining, and take care to wash your nails, cuticles and in between your fingers as cream tends to gather here. You have to let the tanning cream dry for at l least half an hour, so don't put clothes on or you will stain them and cause patches to develop on your skin. The only thing to do is sit on an old towel in a room where you have some privacy so that you are not moving around a lot. A good time of the day to apply self tanning lotion is before you go to bed, so that you don't stain your clothes, but remember to put old towels on the sheets so that you don't stain them either

It depends on if you are fair skinned or if you are dark and just want a darker tan. I am fair skinned and I have to ue jergens natural glow and everyday it gives me a little darker tan. If you are a person that is darker skinned then I would use a product that is for fair skinned so you don't get darker spots and some not so dark or you just may look like you are orange and that wouldn't look so nice. If you use Jergens Nautral glow it does have some glitter in it. They are kind of like a brownish color. Maybe some what of an orange and red. To apply it well that is the hard part. Do it in small areas so you know you are gettng everything rather than big areas at once. So if it is on your lef star at your toes and slowly work your way up. Might take a while though.

Ok I personally find the best way of applying it is as follows:
Have a shower and get rid of dead skin with a brisk rub down from an exfoliating sponge.
Dry off and moisturise from head to toe.
Leave it for a few minutes to soak in
I find the best way of applying tan is with a mit - these are available from all pharmacies and beauty stores.
Pour the tan onto this and rub well in applying all over your body but taking care around drier areas such as your kness and elbows. Also take it easy around the feet!
For your back its best if you can get someone else to do it for you - as well as your hands - you need to ensure that the tan is rubbed in between your fingers so it looks natural - remember though dont put much on the underside of your arm as a natural tan would not colour here.
Then walk around naked and allow to dry in!!!!

Fake Bake have a spray called skin smoothy or smoother not too sure, which you apply to your elbows, knees, feet and other dry areas to avoid that horrible orange mess you get on those areas!! Also I always apply with a tan mit! Its perfect for no streaks!! You can get them in chemists for about €5!!

Best thing to do if apply evenly to your body (wear gloves) and avoid places like ankles, elbows and knee caps and soles of feet as these look stupid if you tan them. Then remove gloves and tan top of hands but be careful not to get any on your palms. Have some baby wipes to hand. I find these are brilliant for any spilages you encounter on the floor or yourself.

Well, 'bored' the very best way of applying fake tan is to have an attentive man at your beck and call. He will lovingly smooth it on all over your body, giving you an even sunshine glow on the outside just as- at the very same time- he is giving you a warm glow on the inside!

I'm sat here at work, thinking I've some spare time on my hands now- like me to come over and smooth it on? ;-)
