Living in the present is the best way. You can;t hold onto the past for it is but a shattered dream. The future is unknown and changeable. The present is all there is. If you live in the present you will be happy. There is a saying that goes. Yesterday's history tomorrow's a mystery today is the true gift and that's why they call it the present.

No point dwelling on the past, tho it can be good to remember things...

...no good in worrying about what the future may hold, tho it is good to have dreams and ambitions

Balance both of those but stay focused on the present

Where else could you actually live, happy or unhappy?
You can reminisce about the past and dream of the future but your mind can't actually put you in a different time zone...

it's not possible to live in the past and be happy - and you cant get to the future. So - if you are to be happy - you have to live in the present.
Or do you mean living within a gift?
