How come there's never been an English revolution against the monarchy ? Like the ones in France and Russia. Do you like being over taxed. I was waching somehting about The Beatles. They had to pay up to 95% of their earned money as taxes. That's robbery and many English people are living very poor and difficult lives. While the Royals have palaces, private homes, they own hotels and don't have to work hard and pay any taxes. Because, you the average English person has to pay for their luxurious life styles. Do you think that's fair ?

I don't know much about royalty. I guess if I was to ask the Irish Catholics living in Ireland and the members of the IRA this same question. Maybe I'd get a different response than from patriotic English folk.

I'm not a great Royalist by any means and I don't think it's the case that the royals are so loved by us all that we would never consider an 'uprising', but £ for £ the Royals bring in to the UK probably more than they cost us through tourism. I think very recently it was estimated that they cost us a little over £1 each per head of population, it costs far more to keep prisoners in prison than it does to keep the tradition of the royal family.
They do also now pay taxes, the Queen wanted the tax payer to fund the repairs to Windsor Castle after it was damaged in a fire, and there was a mini uprising, people voiced their disapproval to government and shortly afterwards it was announced that the Queen would now pay taxes. So maybe we have learned over the years that there is more to be gained by talking than sword fighting.
I think alse we realise if we didn't have a Royal Family, we might end up with a President Blair and I don't think that would go down too well in certain areas of the UK

There have been revolutions , hundreds of years back. But our current Royal Family, the Windsors, are so very much loved by the English people who would never dream of creating a revolution. Maybe now, that there is a population so diverse in cultures and from so many other countries, maybe, this might happen. The new influx of people are not so keen on the Royals. Its those sort of people, who choose to come to a new country but refuse to abide by its rules that start causing troublesAnd yes, they do pay tax.Their 'luxurious lifestyles' are no more than other celebrities, or politicians. You are what you are..

Read English history and you will be much surprised. Read, in particular, the story of the Magna Carta and the signing of same at Runnymede. Read of the kings and queens from Scotland, France, England, Germany and the intrigues that took place. Read of Cromwell and Pitt.

I am Welsh (and yes I still count).
There have been many uprisings against the Monarch.

What do you mean, do I LIKE being overtaxed? Do you?

and I guess it's not fair, no. But not many peopoe would agree with the alternative which would be to abolish the monarch.
