Is there a point to the face paintings that American footballplayers have on their faces? I'm a Swede and we discussed this during coffee break here. Swedish women needs to know.

It actually serves two purposes. Both have been stated, but not together. It is somewhat for an intimidation factor and partially for preventing glare in their eyes. A lot of players probably tried it once and then played well and continue to use it as a good luck act by continueing to do the same thing as when they played well before.

Football Players usually paint their cheeks black or another dark color depending on temperature. They paint there cheecks for two reasons. The first is to attract sunlight away from there eyes to help see in direct sunlight. The other is on cold days, the black or very dark purple is used to bring sunlight to the face so that the football players face will stay warm to regulate regular breathing.

its called black eye. you put it on your face (not all do it) to help keep the glare from lights or the sun from blinding. i've never used it and do think its silly-but some say it really does work. i simply say keep your eye on the ball and you won't have a problem.

well the Americana football is the best game so you know and the whole painting face thing is just for fun to look fierce looking and to scare the opponent, my favorite team is are the raiders,
49-ers,cowboys, patriots,and the ny giants.
