I bought an antique silver ring that I adore, It turns my finger green!
I've put some clear nail polish on the in side everyday but after a while It starts to chip and my finger turns green anyway! also, If I wear the ring after the nail polish comes off, My skin under the ring becomes red and raw,
is there any other (cheap) alternatives?

Also, Just in case it comes up..
I didn't pay a whole lot for the ring, It has a sentimental value to me ( I bought I for 6 Euros on my first trip to Paris.)
If there isnt an enexpensive way to coat the inside, i'll just keep it in my jewelry box.

Wow...I wouldn't touch the ring, you are obviously having some sort of an acid metal oxidation reaction. If you can tolerate wearing it on a chain around your neck, you should do that. But don't risk your health for a peice of jewelry!

You're not supposed to put nail polish on silver, your'e supposed to get silver or any metal cleaner and get rid of the tarnish that makes your finger turn green. If you have done all of that, and it still turns green, then go get a real silver ring.

I dont think it is real silver. If it is, you obviously have to go get it cleaned. Dont do it yourself.
I bought a 25 cent ring from a gum ball machine when I was 8 and it did the same thing...

i think the problem might be the ring is rusting. That happened to me and it turned out there wasnt a proper water cover on it and when it got wet it would rust and turn my finger green. And im guessing that thats why your finger got red and raw so stop wearing it for now give your finger a break and take it back to where you got it from and tell them about the problem and see if they can do anything about it.

Take it to a jewelers to get it dipped in platinum silver or gold...
You're not allergic to it, it's not real silver, that's what's turning your skin green... rings out of a quarter machine do the same...

that's not brass. Copper turns your hands eco-friendly. you in all probability have acidic epidermis and the hoop is bothering your epidermis. unfold some sparkling nail polish on the interior the hoop and you'd be large.

You can try getting the ring plated and it may help. It may not be the cheapest method but it should work.

Don't wear it anymore. You are allergic to it. The silver is not too pure.
