Unfortunately, some Americans do have superiority complexes. But there are people like that all over the world. I don’t care what part of the world you are in; there are people who just believe themselves better then everyone else. Is it right of them? Of course not, but it is a reality.
I feel that many people in the world view Americans in an unfavorable light, so they look for negative traits and embellish those flaws to an even greater extent. So when some highly American public figure says something ignorant or outright stupid, many people complain about America as a whole rather the acts of just a few.
Everyone is different, and so judgment should be reserved on a case by case basis. Many people think their way of life is right, and will fight to the death to show others how great they are. But it isn’t limited to a particular nation…
…it’s the person they are, not where they come from.

Americans are no different than are other nations. All peoples have that self important superiority complex. Americans are just more vocal than other nations. They are well used to their freedom of speech.
I have traveled all over Europe and Asia and have seen that same superiority in every country. In some countries the first attack came from people I thought were regular folk, in some countries it started at the airport with the baggage claim. In England, Japan Russia, Singapore,France, Italy, Germany, China and Korea I heard how great they were and how lousy other countries were.
The only three countries I never once heard it in were Canada Australia and Jamaica. They accepted my Priesthood without question or laughter. Treated me like I was kin. When I got to the Church, Synagogue or Temples I was always treated with respect. I admire all of the people I have met in my years of study. Even the Self Righteous self centered ones that cover the globe.

Sort of like the rich looking down on middle class and poor people. Everybody has a superiority complex to some degree. All people judge it don't matter where you come from.

The United States of America IS better than all other countries ever - BECAUSE of "WE THE PEOPLE." WE THE PEOPLE are the government. WE THE PEOPLE are in charge of our lives. WE THE PEOPLE... You will NOT find this anywhere else, and millions and millions of people from other countries RECOGNIZED that the U.S. concept of individualism - that people OWN THEMSELVES and that NOBODY CAN GOVERN THEM BETTER THAN THEY, THEMSELVES - is the greatest concept of freedom - and that's why so many of them have died and will die to get into the U.S. FREEDOM IS THE ONLY GODLY GOVERNMENT IN THE WORLD. GOD GAVE US FREEDOM; NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO TAKE THAT AWAY - NOT DICTATORS, NOT PSEUDOPRESIDENTS (like in so many countries that have so-called presidents but their people really are not free), and NOT SOCIALISTS AND COMMUNISTS PRETENDING TO BE PRESIDENTS AND ADMINISTRATION WHO THINK THEY ARE SO MUCH SMARTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE THAT THEY HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS TO GOVERNING OVER OTHERS. It's not our land; it's not our leaders; it's the concept of each individual having the GOD-GIVEN RIGHT TO GOVERN HIM/HERSELF. THAT is what makes the United States of America, the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave, BETTER than every other country ever on Earth. If other countries would adopt the concept of INDIVIDUAL FREEDOM, the entire Earth would be an infinitely better place. Why do you think people have flocked to this country since its inception? I sincerely hope you're not an American. Because if you are, then you have freedom that you don't appreciate, and if karma is a realistic concept, then you will some day wish to God you had appreciated your freedom ... some day when your freedom is lost. God forbid.

I'm Chinese. I've worked with many of them in my office. No, never had bad experience (discrimination) with any. And those I met when I travel to the US have always been polite/nice. Never felt they look down on me. In fact I have a wonderful Am. ex-colleague who still sends me greeting cards twice a year over the last so many years. I must be lucky ?

There's people like that in every nation, it's probably just that there is a large proportion of Americans (by which I think you mean people from the USA) on line (I am assuming that your question is mainly directed at the on-line community).
Also the school system in America is very focused inwards on American issues so many are genuinely unaware that their attitudes and beliefs are not shared in other countries.
Nationalism is a trait encouraged and applauded, and at times to the outside observer that can appear like arrogance.
They're just people like us, we're all fallible.

One of the founders of modern psychology, Jung, wrote that an outward show of superiority is a certain sign of deeply hidden feelings of being inadequate.
Jingoists are the same, wherever you go, they usually don't have much to be proud of in their lives, so they choose something they can't even help, an accident of birth, to be proud of, secure in the knowledge that this is shared by many others.
I don't think it's a coincidence that this excessive nationalism coincides with a period of hegemonial wars, while the interior situation for the lower and middle classes is most insecure. The racist hate propaganda against Mexican immigrants is another symptom of rising faschism.
One look at Germany between the wars shows many more frightening parallels to the US today, but as is said " The one ting we can learn from history is that humans don't learn from history.
Maybe it's wrong for once and enough people are going to wake up, but I doubt it very much. I'm afraid we are going to live in interesting times.

America is one giant amusement park. Hollywood, Disneyland, Las Vegas, Florida, Washington, Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch in the San Fernando Valley.
Americans are forever at the carnival, being amused by registered trademark cartoon characters -- and their politicians - George "Dubya" Bush is much like Goofy at Splash Mountain.
When you're that distracted by such fanfare and ferris wheels, you lose touch with reality and think life is one big day at the fair.
That's why Americans think they're better than everyone else - big corporations - and Capitol Hill - coating every aspect of American life with pink sugary fairy floss. Or should I say 'cotton candy'.......
