I am a guy in electrical engineering for the semi-conductor world. I have been living in d.c. for 3 months and everyone at work is a lot older than I am. I still have found no friends. I just moved into an apartment building and am hoping that will help. I am sorry I do not know how long it will take but I am sure it will happen eventually.

Looks like you may have to join a church group as well, there're not many women engineers around and if the others are not within your age group, try find friends/colleagues in other depts. who can take you to a church fellowship/meeting or go to a gym.

Talk. Wherever you go be talkative. Appear easy to talk to. Church is a great place to meet people. A lot of churches even have singles groups where you can tlak, mingle and share, and nobody is pushy. Good Luck!

sounds like you need to get out more outside of work...go out and get to know people...get some hobbies, take a photography or painting class, go out to a bar once in the while...
