They were both pehnomenal (I speak as an Arsenal fan here) and I think that the Taylor one was far more difficult and a better goal simply because of the way that the ball sat up for Essien - its the kind of goal that 9/10 times ends up in the back of the stand, and he hit it so cleanly and sweetly that it curled right in - but Taylors was far harder, further out and not something you see tried in every match.
I feel sorry for Morten Gamst Pedersen, he hit a phenomenal goal which didnt even get a mention.

I would give Taylor. Look at the way he played that thing in. That was one of the rare soccer moments. I would equally acknowledge Essien had a good goal but Taylor had a better one

essien's. taylor's took a huge element of luck. people are saying he's great because he can hit the ball straight, it's not really that hard for a professional footballer to do. taylor just wallied it. could easily have gone over. with essien - the curl, the placement - brilliant
it was a good weekend for goals - essien, defoe, taylor, pedersen, gonzalez

Taylor. I bet even pros would only score that goal 1 in 100 times of trying. Phenominal strike, it dipped just under the bar. Essien was an amazing goal, but not as spectacular as Taylors

matthew taylors goal was by far the best, to lob a keeper from 45 yards, has to be a contender for goal of the season, you see goals like essiens week in week out, very good goal, but Taylors was pure class !!

Essiens was good but Taylors was something special, i am sure he got something as good last season from the left side of the pitch.
as for everyone going on about luck, there may have been some but if rooney, ronaldo or beckham scored it we would never hear the last of it, as it would be a mark of genius, so cool to see a lesser known player getting the credit for once.

Essien's goal last night against Arsenal was fantastic from about 25 meter out and it was scored in last 5 min to equalise with Arsenal. Saw how Mourinho's reaction when it went in. Wow, so
comical but natural.

I think both goals were great but I would go with Taylor as the volley is a much harder skill to master.
