I keep seeing and hearing different sizes for a baby to be normal. Most of the sizes I hear and see are smaller than most babies. Why? For example, my baby will be six months on th 20th and she's 18lbs and 27in. She needs to wear 12 months clothing. But these tags for a 6 month old baby should be like 16lbs, 23in. Most of the moms i talk to say the same thing too.....

Ok, so she's bigger than the average size. It doesn't mean anything. My girls wore the size for the age they were. My son was big (12 month clothes at 6 months too). Once they were 2-3 years, their sizes averaged out and they all are the same body type/size now. So don't let her size worry you. A chubby baby actually made me feel better. If he got sick he'd have the extra fat on him for when he wouldn't eat. So don't worry about it. Make sure you both eat healthy and you'll be fine.

WOW! I wish my child was that small at that age. I do not think anyone should put an "average" height and weight on children under one, as long as the child is gaining weight (now gaining an excessive amount in short time is NOT what I am talking about) and not losing. I have a three year old that was 7-6 when born, 14 lbs at a month, 18 lbs by four months, 22 lbs by 8 months, and he now weights 32 lbs and is 3 1/4 feet tall. My daughter though was 6-7 when born, 12 lbs at a month, 16 lbs, at four months, 20 lbs at 8 months, and she will be two on the 21st and she weights 30 lbs and is 2 1/2 feet tall. So I believe it depends more on the individual child and their own unique genetic make-up. As for the clothing thing, that is the manufacturers "idea" of what children should weigh, and they are usually just trying to make big bucks for least amount of fabric used, which means they will not make the clothes to actually fit a 6 month old, but rather a 3 month old. It is all about the money there.

Listen my baby was born at 11lbs 7 oz and she is now 1 yr and 2 months old and almost 26 lbs and like 32in and she is fine she was a little chubby at first but she grew into herself just fine. Give your baby time once she starts crawling and walking she should even out the doctor will let you know if you should worry. I worried too and there is no average, everyone is different and each baby grows at there own pace.
