why do you have to consult Nilesh Kulkarni to state this fact ! Indian team selection in any sports is almost always impacted by favouritism - forget cricket or soccer - just look at athletics, badminton, gymnastics, hockey, swimming, table tennis, etc.

There is no doubt that there is favouritism is indian cricket. With 5 selectors, one from each zone: north, south, east and west and the fifth heading them, what do you expect.
the selection committee in india should be changed in the following manner.
1. Let this members be there and select team.
2. The team so selected should be handed over to the team of three members. the criteria for being member should be that one should have played at least 50 test matches. This team of members should pick the final team so selected by the first screening team.

are you talking about the warm up tour with the A team against England ? well i think its a good idea what India are doing as you don't want England to have an early look at India's spinners and Englands exposure to what is likely to be their biggest challenge during the Test series. plus ithink they should hold of Yadav till the test cos i think he could do some damage to england as not many have seen him the next positive is they are playing these guys in the warm up Irfan Pathan, Ashok Dinda, R Vinay Kumar and Parvinder Awana and im hoping Dinda or someone els will do realy well and get put into the main squad ,England say this is even harder and more important than an ashes series Engalnd can chose not to bowl Finn and Broad if they dont want to expose there best bolwers to the A team

Mr. Venkatraman, what Mr. Kulkarni said is 100% true. For the past 40 years (from the day I was interested in cricket when Nari Contractor was hit on his head by a ball by Wesly Hall of west indies) our Crick board is same and politics and favoritism is an in born quality for our board. You can not change it is you can say as fate or destiny of our Cricket. By the way you should have some how continued with Cricket and would have attracted many for fulfilling the urge. -

I fully agree that favouritsm has played a vital role in team selection in Indian cricket all these years and as such some of the deserving talented players did not get a chane to play for India.
