If you have a monotonous task to do, break it up into bits because doing it all at once will make you go cross eyed and you will do things wrong! Get up, have a cuppa/glass of water and stand near your desk - rub your eyes, maybe have a ciggy break if you're allowed, then go back, do more work, then stop and do the same thing again when your mind wanders. I actually get things done faster this way than if I do things at a long stretch. By the way by "break" I mean very short, like five minutes.

Ask for more to do at work! If that's not what you are looking form, then try another job. Maybe you need to change your career choice?
If I get bored at work, I change what I am doing for a while, just to vary the day. Still monotonous at times, but makes the day go a little quicker.

The easiest way to suddenly become busy is to increase the amount of water you drink, this is good because you can waste time walking to the water machine and then later need to walk to the toilet. Continue until it is acceptable to go home.
Alternatively colour your shoes in with highlighter pens. You will obviously need to spend some time choosing a suitable colour and will thereby waste more time.
Remember, most the time you are paid to be at work so it doesn't really matter if you actually do anything as long as you turn up each morning.

Sounds like you have too little to do. And it's hard to look busy, yet you're not supposed to read a book, play games on the computer, etc. Maybe this is a good time to look for a job that'd be more fulfilling.

Always be grateful to the creator that you have a job, and when you feel bore try to get close with your known jobless person and extend your cooperation to get a job for him/her. Definitely you will realize how lucky you are now.
