AVG Antivirus is free edition and you get free updates for it. I use it myself.
I use the free firewall software ZoneAlarm.
AVG Antivirus is good for you only if you are expert or very good with internet security and you know what you are downloading and what you are installing on your PC. All sorts of virus and spyware are usually downloaded and installed by the user and they never download and install themselves just like that.
If you are not that good with internet security, then you should install Norton/MacAfee Internet security 2006 or 2007 versions, although Norton will make your PC run slower.

I have list the freeware site for AVG. If you need a freeware firewall try Sygate.

I dont prefer avg...it doesnt give any use...I prefer MCAFEE.....Please vote for best answer if u get use of this answer
